A Welsh family are spending their holidays in a Danish holiday cottage. Strange things start to happen. An anorak disappears - and a cake. Then someone borrows their boat. A doctor's car won't start, and there is a groan from the verandah steps. What's going on? Is somebody hiding near their cottage? Someone dangerous - or very unhappy - or ill? It's a while before the Welsh children find out, but that helps to make the story exciting. The Runaway is fun to read, but it deals with some serious real-life family problems as well.
